M1 Overview of ArcGIS Lab Assignment
In this lab we were learning how to use ArcGIS Pro. Since we will be using this for the entirety of our work it is important to be comfortable with the program.
First it was important to learn how to get data from the R: Drive and put it on our S: Drive for us to use it in ArcGIS Pro. Another part that is important to our class is being able to name documents properly and make sense for the project.
While within ArcGIS Pro we learned how to connect the project to a folder in order to get the data we need for the project. You can either add the data from the connected folder or from the Add Data button in the Map Tab. When the data is added in, it is at random but we can change it at any time. After the data was added we changed the symbology of both the Cities and World Countries. It showed two different ways one could change the symbology for their project. Lastly, we learned about the layout page and getting the map to the full extent of the features. That map is represented below.
The final portion of this module was to learn how to use ArcGIS Help online and understanding the terminology. Being able to know where to go when you are stuck is important because you will not always have others to help. Also, knowing the terminology is important when you are using ArcGIS Pro because it will help one get to different parts of the program quicker.
